Position Summary

Graves Hospitality is excited to present an exciting career opportunity for a Sales Manager at the Moxy Oakland Downtown! This key sales contributor will be responsible for generating leads; reviewing, managing, coordinating, and executing all group and meeting related functions; and facilitating communication between the client and the hotel throughout the pre-planningexecution, and post-event phases.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Sales Responsibilities:

  •  Complete prospecting goals to new and existing accounts/customers.
  •  Respond in a timely manner to group and event RFPs, phone calls, and emails.
  •  Close incoming inquiries and maintain opportunities in the CRM.
  •  Conduct site tour of property to meeting planners, event planners and other potential business.
  •  Coordinate all sales related activity through the direction of the Regional Director of Sales.
  •  Negotiate contract specifics to achieve maximum profitability while satisfying customer needs.
  • Participate in sales blitzes and other sales generation activity.
  • Participation in local meeting planner and event organization’s is encouraged.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Event Planning Responsibilities:

  • Prepare all meeting and documentation in coordination with sales, hotel departments and customer to ensure consistent, high level service throughout pre-event, event and post event phases.
  • Obtain and input group and meeting details from clients and enter into a group resume and banquet event order (BEO).
  • Prepare all Group Resume and BEO packets each week with help from Sales Coordinator.
  • Attend or lead applicable hotel meetings: SalesMorning Moxy Meetups, BEO, and Group Resume.
  • Work closely with operations team through execution of definite programs working as the intermediate source of communication between the operations team and the client.
  • Maintain sales files with detailed notes in the CRM on all client correspondence.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors while following hotel and company guidelines.
  • Assist in building strong relations with other hotel departments, employees, and outside agencies and vendors.

Operations Responsibilities:

  • Ensure personal appearance is clean and professional.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests and clients according to company standards, anticipate and address guest and client needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests and clients with genuine appreciation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of sales, meetings & events experience in a similar size operation.
  • Previous hotel sales, hotel event management, and hotel operations experience is strongly preferred.
  • Education and/or training equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality, or a related field.
  • Ability to professionally communicate with clients, guests and other associates both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to provide own transportation for various tasks, including client visits and running sales and event related errands.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, sales activities, and events simultaneously.
  • Thrives in a high pressure and fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates exceptional business acumen.
  • Flexible availability as the position will require long hours at times including nights and weekendsSchedule will vary depending on definite meeting and event dates.
  • FOSSE, Delphi/Amadeus, PMS, CRM, and Microsoft Office Suite experience is strongly preferred.
  • Detail oriented, goal driven, team-player, good work ethic, decisive, and good negotiator.
  • Understanding of hotel revenue management is preferred.
  • Capable of meeting/exceeding sales goals and benchmarks.
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 40 pounds without assistance and objects weighing in excess of 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean DMV record.
