Position Overview:
The Housekeeping Supervisor assists the Executive Housekeeper by supervising the housekeeping team and overseeing daily housekeeping operations. They are responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service in guest rooms and public spaces, ensuring a welcoming environment for all guests. This role involves hands-on housekeeping tasks along with supervisory and administrative responsibilities.
Job Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Housekeeper in a full-service hotel is required.
Supervisory experience in a hospitality or service industry setting is preferred.
Knowledge of cleaning practices, including sanitation, organization, and quality standards.
Strong organizational and time management skills to ensure timely and efficient task completion.
Positive service orientation and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to listen actively, ask questions, and address team and guest concerns appropriately.
Knowledge of safety standards and the ability to train and reinforce safety practices.
Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Job Description:
Section 1: Guest Experience and Cleanliness
- Deliver the Moxy Vibe: Ensure guest rooms and public areas reflect the Moxy vibe—clean, modern, and inviting. Prioritize guest comfort and safety in all cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Attention to Detail: Inspect rooms and public spaces regularly to ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and readiness. Address any issues immediately to uphold Moxy's high standards.
- Guest Interactions: Respond to guest requests and concerns regarding housekeeping promptly and with a positive attitude. Communicate any significant issues to the Executive Housekeeper.
- Problem Resolution: Handle guest feedback regarding cleanliness and upkeep, taking ownership of issues and ensuring swift resolution to exceed guest expectations.
- Team Empowerment: Encourage team members to take ownership of guest-related cleanliness and service issues, providing support and guidance to foster an efficient, high-quality service mindset.
- Assist with Cleaning as Needed: Step in to assist with cleaning rooms or covering shifts to ensure service consistency and uphold Moxy’s cleanliness standards.
Section 2: Team Leadership and Development
- Training and Mentorship: Train and mentor housekeeping staff, empowering them to maintain Moxy’s high standards. Encourage accountability and proactive problem-solving within the team.
- Policy Communication: Clearly communicate cleaning policies and procedures, ensuring that every team member understands expectations in line with the Executive Housekeeper’s guidelines.
- Recruitment Support: Participate in interviews and assist in selecting potential housekeeping candidates, working closely with the Executive Housekeeper.
- Shift Coverage and Support: Step in as needed to support the team and ensure all shifts are covered. Be familiar with all aspects of the housekeeping operation, including night procedures.
Section 3: Operations and Coordination
- Daily Operations: Oversee daily housekeeping operations, ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces meet cleanliness and operational standards. Communicate any significant issues to the Executive Housekeeper.
- Supply Management: Monitor housekeeping supplies, manage inventory, and communicate needs to ensure the team has the tools necessary to succeed.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments, including front desk, engineering, and food and beverage, to ensure seamless guest experience and address shared concerns.
- Brand Standards Compliance: Ensure housekeeping operations meet all Marriott guidelines, reinforcing Moxy's brand integrity and reputation.
- Assist with Special Projects: Support the department head on any assigned projects that contribute to the overall efficiency and success of the housekeeping department.
Section 4: Physical Requirements
- Stand and Move: Stand for extended periods during the shift and move through different areas as needed.
- Physical Activity: Perform physical movements such as bending, lifting, and reaching as required.
- Use of Equipment: Utilize cleaning and office equipment, including vacuums, phones, and computers, as needed throughout the workday.
